I am a complete newbie to caravans and motorhomes, but I'm attracted to the idea of camping and outdoor life in general.

We're thinking of spending a couple of weeks (mid-July, early August) on the usual Sydney-Melbourne route, possibly renting a caravan or motorhome.

Now, it's my wife, our 3- and a 1.2-year-old kids.

What experience can you share in the area we chose, what's the weather like in that time of the year? Are we underestimating the trip, considering we're also in charge of two kids, one of which is a baby?
