Among the amalgam of guidebooks and maps for the Pacific Crest Trail, which guidebooks and/or maps are be the best contenders to bring on the trail?

Guthook 2010 review recommends Halfmile maps combined with PocketPCT. However, postholer maps are not considered in his review.

Guthook provides an excellent answer to this question. Three years later, does his answer still hold true?

ppl -- As you can see with Guthook, the problem with this sort of question is the short shelf life. A correct answer today will likely be incorrect by next year. –  Russell Steen Apr 15 '13 at 14:42

I see your point although I believe it is a valuable question. I added a question to meta for further discussions. –  ppl Apr 16 '13 at 11:46
