Personally I find StackOverflow to be good for personal development. We should all spend some time trying to debug code without a compiler now and then.

Fair enough! Where I live, it gets over 98 degrees, but rarely during hunting season. From what I have read, the advice is the same. I learned the spreader trick from reading how people do it when they have to pack the meat out on mules in the west US. Heat shouldn't spoil it that quick as long as you get it open and dry, with minimal contamination.

comment During high-altitude lengthy expedition: To shave or not shave?
I would tend to agree. It would seem the primary discouragement is carrying the gear for shaving when weight is at a premium.

@OlinLathrop -- Oh, don't get me wrong, the risk presented by bears is miniscule. Miniscule may even be an exaggeration. My thought was more with regards to the behavior and that the article challenges some of the 'facts' about bear behavior that we've all come to accept.

comment How to clean vomit from camping gear?
Wouldn't work in my case, as I don't carry Hydrogen Peroxide in my med kit :)
