comment Is it possible to improvise a knife sharpener in the wild?
IMO -- this answer leaves a bit to be desired, it doesn't really provide any idea about how to actually do this. A reader could not take this answer and try to apply it in the real world without having so much surrounding knowledge that the answer would no longer be necessary. In it's current form it's barely one step above "sure if your knife is blunt, try a rock". Is there anything you can do to flesh this out and be thorough?

comment How long does water need to be boiled for to kill all bacteria / viruses?
@Greg.Ley -- From a scientific standpoint you are absolutely correct that the minute is not necessary. From an applied science in the wild standpoint, where I am in the woods with no thermometer, I'm going to err on the side of using that minute to make sure I don't get Hepatitis (which can require temperatures up to 98C to kill).

comment Do iodine water treatment tablets have negative effects?
@Greg.Ley -- The CDC recommends at least a minute. More if you're at altitude. "To the boiling point" is not considered sufficient by most health organizations. 10 minutes may be excessive. 10 minutes was based on a discussion I had with a health professional recently regarding specific diseases.

comment What makes a good head lamp?
I'd say that's a function of the lamp you had. I have a couple of non-regulated ones that do not have that problem. It sounds much more like an issue of "low quality" vs. "high quality" than "regulated" vs. "non-regulated".

comment What clothing would be appropriate for hiking in -18°C with up to 30 km/hr wind?
I'd only comment, that it does take more than 1 of the 3. Wet won't give you hypothermia in 110 degree heat no matter how wet you get.
