The best solution for carrying a D-SLR when hiking @D.H. wear it facing forward - easy to get to whether you have a backpack on or not. Then whether you're full on hiking with tent and food, or just out for a few hours, the camera and such are always in the same place. |

Pros and Cons of paracord Does paracord float? Can you melt the ends to keep it from fraying? Is it bright yellow? Does it come in different thicknesses? |

How to select paracord Serious question: why not buy fairly random yellow twisted poly stuff from the hardware store for bear bags and tarp lines? What advantage is the paracord bringing? The cheap stuff floats, is easy to see in trees, and easy to get. I would love to know what I'm missing. |

I put a big gouge in the bow of my canoe going across rocks. How can I fix it? I built my canoe using epoxy and that's what I would repair it with if it needed it. That was well over 20 years ago so perhaps materials have changed, but the makers of the resin I used say their stuff is better than polyester: westsystem.com/ss/polyester-over-epoxy |

Legality of “semi-permanent” wooden structures in state and national forests in the US I think you will have your constructions taken down by others sooner than you will be charged, and the fact it might be legal will not preserve your structures. I apologize if that wasn't clear. |

What's the advantage to a bent-shaft paddle? You're right - I heard the stuff about the first half of the stroke not being as powerful, but imagined the paddle "backwards" from how they intend it to be used. |
