Software Developer, part-time pastor, and I raise chickens. Who can't love a chicken?

Cheese and eggs on backpacking trips Europeans don't refrigerate their eggs - I raise chickens, I collect eggs every day, and we put them on the kitchen counter. Once they go in the fridge, they can no longer be sold as "fresh," and they don't taste as good. Refrigeration makes them last longer, but once they are in the fridge, I'm told they need to stay that way. |

Cheese and eggs on backpacking trips And remember, the reason cheese was invented was because IT WAS A MEANS OF PERSERVING MILK! |

Cheese and eggs on backpacking trips As someone who raises chickens, I can tell you that we never put our eggs in the fridge. Technically, they can no longer be called 'fresh,' and they lose taste. Eggs will keep for 2 - 3 weeks, even outside of the fridge. |

What is the most efficient food to take a for a 12-15 day hiking trip? Is it just me, or was anyone else really pleased to know that Spock's father gets his own National Park? |

What is the best way to break up a fight among dogs on a sled line? Don't have sled dogs, but it does work on my 2 barn dogs. They're well-fed and not overly food motivated, but it distracts them enough to break up a fight. Truth be told, I do have to wave it around a bit to get their attention, which may fall under the "distraction' idea. |

How can I hike across the Grand Canyon if I don't have a backcountry permit? The 5th option there opened up a world of possibilities. I'm definately going to check out the Tonto trail in particular. |
