A guy who is into a little bit of everything...music (listening and making it), photography, DIY, technology, the outdoors (hiking, backpacking, climbing...), and trying to live by grace through faith. I also currently work at a high adventure camp in the Southeast where I also do a little bit of everything...

You answered your own question: Carry Less.

Agreed. If you're on terrain where this trailer would actually be usable, then a bike is certainly a better option. Or carry less if you must walk.

I think the answer you're looking for might possibly depend on which region and its associated bear species and climate. And some areas never require canisters.

Your answer is great, but as you say, you're only familiar with a couple of methods, so I'm looking to see if we can get some more contribitions. I've been tempted to hit "Accept" a few times already, but I'm thinking accepting now may inhibit that. I'm going to edit the question to see if that helps get more input.

comment Should a hiker be concerned about wolves in the back-country?
I would like to know this as well. I don't frequent areas with wolves usually, but it's always good to be prepared.
