A guy who is into a little bit of everything...music (listening and making it), photography, DIY, technology, the outdoors (hiking, backpacking, climbing...), and trying to live by grace through faith. I also currently work at a high adventure camp in the Southeast where I also do a little bit of everything...

comment Groups: What are proper occasions for a large, shared hole for waste?
I can certainly understand your strategy here. Most of the trips I've led are with youth, and they don't always like to dig the proper cat-hole, especially the girls. Do you ever take anything like lime to spread in the hole between uses help to alleviate the stench?

This acoustic is one I've really been considering.

If it helps some answers, this is the travel guitar I'm heavily considering. Didn't think I should include that in the question though.

This is also an interesting one. Seems fairly compact.

This is interesting, I was thinking more along the lines of an acoustic, but I could consider this option. How much does this setup weigh? (kg/lbs, either one)

@GreenstoneWalker - No worries at all. I do appreciate the apologies though. And I see where you're coming from. Listening to someone attempt to play an instrument, especially unsuccessfully, can certainly try one's patience.

Well, got that part. I've just never backpacked with a guitar before.

comment Which types of wood will make food taste bad?
I'm personally not a fan of the flavors imparted by burning red oak, or white oak for that matter.

comment Are Rhododendron and Mountain Laurel truly toxic to burn in a campfire?
I definitely laughed there. And fair enough, I wanted more specificity but wasn't specific enough even still. And where did you find out that it's destroyed by heat?

Hey I edited my question to help clarify what I'm looking for. This is good stuff to know, and I'm sure that guy's fine, but I'd really like to know the true measured toxicity of burning the wood, if that even exists somewhere.

comment What are the most common stinging plants to be aware of in North America?
@BenCrowell - Yikes that stuff sounds awful. It sounds like it's especially difficult to remove from skin and clothes as well. I'm possibly moving to CA soon, so that's good to know.

Is there a way you could achieve similar support for the wrist without entirely covering the palm? I haven't come up with anything myself.

Some good thoughts here, and I like it, but some references are always beneficial, especially regarding medically related issues.

Sorry, but I'm also inclined to agree that this doesn't answer the question above. While it's quite interesting information, and a good response, it is an answer to a different question. This seems more about arguing for the validity of the principal of compression sleeves, but doesn't address this for climbing, which is quite different from cycling. However I think there's some potential here if it can be directed towards climbing.

This is related to my question here. Possible duplicate? There's some grey area there, mine is intended to be all-encompassing, but this is specifically on the wrist, but related to climbing it seems. I don't know...just throwing it out there.

I meant what style of wader. For example, chest waders, waist waders or hip waders.

What kind of waders? And am I correct in assuming you're trying to keep junk from even entering the waders? Including this info in your question will help get better answers.

This is going to be a really tough one for me to accept just one answer. So far you guys have provided some great responses!

comment How to repair my boots (leather)
I've also got some leather boots that need some TLC to keep going, but my issue is cracks in the leather around the toe, mostly where it bends, not busted stitching. Been brainstorming some solutions for a while, but was hoping to get a some solid info before I take a chance in ruining my currently still functional boots. Curious to see what we get.
