Are you having problems when rinsing out your water bladder with clean water and just hanging it out to dry?

comment What are some emergency water purification methods?
Like I said, it has to be done carefully. Even so, it wouldn't 'blow up,' but it could potentially rupture and leak.

comment How do you flavour your water on camping trips?
If you plan on making tea out of surrounding vegetation, only use leaves and roots that you know aren't going to kill you :)

comment GPS navigation device or app that allows entry of UTM coordinates?
Indeed, the web sites do not give a ton of detail. Granted, the newer GPS units are so powerful that listing out every feature would take pages. I've used the Garmin GPSMAP 60, 62, and 64 series extensively and any of those models can do the same tricks with UTMs.

This is sourced from the real list we use whenever we enter the field, even for training ( I can email it if you want, I just don't know if I have permission to make the document public ).

I'm not sure who you would report to or if they would fine you. But yes, you are 100% liable for your dog and his or her actions.

comment Depth Perception in the Mountains
Alright, then I will say that yes, if you spend more time in mountainous terrain, you'll inevitably get better at judging distance and elevation, and people that have lived around the peaks will have a leg up. But the important point I'm trying to stress above all is that no amount of confidence will replace a map.
