comment How to carry dslr camera when rock-climbing
I've used one. It is OK under a rucksack, and doesn't bounce on the stomach while walking. I keep the camera in a plastic bag with bubble wrap inside for extra protection. (Also avoids stares.)

comment How can I keep my iPhone going on a multiday hike?
I would not put that on a camp fire with an iPhone attached. It looks like a plastic wire and the iPhone would melt.

GPS functionality: without a good signal you can get GPS location but the map tiles can't be downloaded. So you still need paper maps.

It takes < 5 mins to boil up a pan of water to cook a meal. Is that long enough to charge an iPhone with this?

What is dried soiled fish? It is not available in Europe, or maybe it has a different name.

comment Pitching a tent in the rain?
When buying a new tent, consider the weather you'll probably face. Then an outer first tent is best for rainy places.

comment Can I eat rotten meat and carcass providing enough cooking?
"Initially, boil and change the water many times.", presumably "boil" means boil the meat in water but don't keep boiling very long each time. "Then cook the meat" means keep the meat boiling for a very long time.

comment How can I contact emergency services in the US via the internet?
Some countries have their own apps. Simply press the button and emergency services will rescue you. I don't know about US so I just add this as a comment, see alpify.com

comment Are trekking poles proven to be helpful?
On boggy ground they are useful for poking the ground to see how far the pole sinks in.

comment Will the benefit of an axe outweigh the drawbacks and win over a large knife?
It is also possible to use the adze of an ice axe if you are winter walking. I've seen this but it is hard work.

I saw someone using an axe to split short logs by swinging the axe with a log on the end against the ground. When it hit the ground the log span in the air and cracked his head.

comment What's the maximum temperature difference wind-chill can account for?
There is no answer to your question. See this nws.noaa.gov/os/windchill, get the PDF brochure. The Wiki page is a bit technical wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_chill
