comment Where in the US can I find green mountains to hike like in Scotland, such as Dalveen Pass?
In Scotland, they would usually be considered to be hills, not mountains.

comment What hazardous wildlife is there in the UK?
Birds of prey are no danger to humans. Eagles do occasionally take small lambs, but only those already injured or unwell. Most reported attacks are stories made up by farmers or gamekeepers.

comment What hazardous wildlife is there in the UK?
A dog is more likely to catch TB from a cow or a human, than from a badger.

comment What hazardous wildlife is there in the UK?
Badgers are not really a hazard - yes, some of them may carry TB, but this can not be transmitted to humans. And they will probably run off as soon as they see or hear you.

comment GPS navigation device or app that allows entry of UTM coordinates?
I think all of the Garmin "outdoor"/"on the trail" models support UTM format. Both displaying it, and entering coordinates. So any of the Etrex, Dakota, Oregon, Montana, Foretrex, Fenix or GPSMAP ranges. Even the really old, basic Etrex Yellow can do this.

comment Maintaining a Mountain Hut
Depends on where you are, but often 4 walls are needed to keep biting insects out. Having flies, midges or mosquitoes inside a hut can be very annoying and uncomfortable.
