I like hiking and treks- I've done "rifugio" (mountain hut) treks in Spain, Italy, Austria, Chile and Nepal. I've backpacked with tents in Egypt, Jordan, Israel, India and the U.S.

Lately I've gotten into bouldering.

comment Vibram FiveFingers, useful, gimic?
Personally, I use Vibrams for roughly 10k runs, and I prefer them over conventional running shoes. But you might want to take a look at these two, very popular questions on the Fitness StackExchange site: What are the downsides of minimalist runnings shoes? and experiences with 'barefoot' running - there are lots of opinions and facts there.

What happened when you were denied travel from Kathmandu to Lukla? How can un/organized crime affect flights?

comment Are headaches a bad sign at altitude?
I think gaining 1000 meters/day is too high to be a sustainable pace. All the high-altitude treks I've done had a rate that averaged no more than 500 meters/day- if you go from 3000 to 5000 meters in two days, your chances of being OK are nil.
