As @RoryAlsop said, this isn't the best fit for our site. Good luck!

As Rory Alsop said, this is not an answer, link only answers rot over time. Please expand your answer to perhaps include a summary of what the link says?

comment How to set up a tent in deep snow
I would recommend being down in the snow, at least to some degree, for insulation purposes AND using a good insulation pad like what @LBell recommends above, those two combined would work well in high wind, cold situations. edit: just noticed xpda said something similar. :P

comment Campsites in Virginia which allow alcohol?
I deem this too localized, and the fact that it doesn't have answers after 11 days all the more proves that. Perhaps try searching Google/Bing/Yahoo?

comment Gloves, but not for keeping warm?
The kind of gloves that are knit but have rubber covering the entire palm/finger side... like what bricklayers use.

comment Soft or hard drinking bottle?
Like @LBell said, you can't beat a Nalgene - those things are unbreakable.

comment What are the key features to look for in mobile device apps for hiking/camping?
Questions asking for mobile/computer programs to do software recommendations & such are off-topic, as per the current policy. Perhaps someone can raise this on Meta Great Outdoors if you/they feel this should be on topic.
