questions about where to specifically purchase things, AFAIK, are off-topic for The Great Outdoors.

can you expand your answer - perhaps include a little bit more information about MyTopo? like if it is free? Or what features it might have?

@TimothyStrimple not too good, or the hunter won't notice the hunted. :P

comment What to bring into a tree stand?
It's all good, I recently took a hunter safety course, and so we specifically talked about tree stands and guns, etc... so just wanted to make sure. Perhaps edit your post to ask more along the lines of what you should have in your tree stand with you, not necessarily what you would bring up in your pack? Cheers and happy hunting! :)

comment What are some good ways to waterproof a geocache / letterbox?
oh, like that. I was thinking more of a gallon/two gallon jug that apple cider or bottled water comes in at the store... +1 to you, I like that idea.

comment Are there any cheap 1:25K electronic maps for the UK or Europe?
I think this may be too localized and off-topic as it is a shopping question asking for recommendation of software.

comment What are some good ways to waterproof a geocache / letterbox?
how is that practical? I may be asking a obvious/dumb question here, but how do you get things in and out of it?

comment Will a tent provide some protection from bears?
I would venture to say no, because they can still smell you. I see your question and it is a good one - but there is no definite answer - every bear is different and will treat the situation differently based on past experiences with campers and humans.

comment Will a tent provide some protection from bears?
@Ryley perhaps some, but not much. Can be even more frightening when the bear shows up, as you can't see well from inside a tent.

comment How can I signal for help in the wilderness?
@JayBazuzi I disagree in that adding activity, length of time, and location are really going to change the answer. The only factor that really might be helpful is the season...

What fixed blade is that? can you link to it? (and +1 in several hours, I'm out of votes :))

This may also be appropriate for our Parenting site.

comment Is drinking urine safe?
I realize this question is somewhat unusual and perhaps subjective, but it is something that we've all wondered at one point or another, and could mean the difference between life and death in a future survival situation.

This is also about prevention of blisters.
