Is it illegal to remove rocks from a riverbed in the UK Voted to close as off topic - I'm not convinced decorating your aquarium should be on topic for TGO :-) |

How can you prevent kids getting lost at night while camping? To avoid strangulation I think it should be made clear that, if you are asking children to wear whistles round their neck, they must not do this when they are sleeping and any cord must have a friable link. |

Where can I find help identifying an owl by its call? @RussellSteen I voted to close as I don't feel identifying bird calls from recordings is on-topic for this site. |

How long does water need to be boiled for to kill all bacteria / viruses? -1 Boiling certainly reduces the viability of bacteria and viruses, but to say "All pathogens will be killed" is incorrect. Most prions and many bacterial and fungal spores are resistant to the temperatures reached by boiling. |

Best way to light a tent +1 This looks much better/safer than my effort of floating one of these tealight candles in a little water in a cooking pot. |

Is there a functional safety difference in types of helmets @Stereotypical, not sure :-) I can't find any supporting evidence so I've updated my answer to reflect that. |

Do reusable “hand coolers” exist? @berry120 I can't find any detailed information on them. If I had to guess they are the medical equivalent of those cool packs you keep in your freezer then use in your picnic hamper to keep your sarnies cool. Manufacturer's product information sheet. |

Are there any reliable and/or easy to use “rule of thumb” guides for windchill calculations? @xpda at 33°F you might not get frostbite, but wind chill could still affect how you need to dress (above 50°F the effects of wind chill are minimal). You've got to consider temperature and wind speed together because they act in synergy. |

First time camping, need advice @Russell ordinarily I would agree with your, however, the OP asks "Is there ... any other resources we should look into". Asking specific questions here is a valid answer to that. |

What are areas of the body which lose heat more quickly, and how can I reduce that loss? This is wrong. The myth of heat loss through the head has been debunked and if hair on the groin and armpits was essential for insulation we would have evolved soft downy hair growing from birth not coarse hair growing from adolescence. |

How to reduce the annoying sound of falling raindrops on a tent? Under foliage would just prolong the problem - drips from the foliage would continue after the rain has stopped. |

How can you navigate / determine your location in thick fog? @Roflcoptr would you really want to go higher? It would be further to fall if you walked off a cliff in the fog. |
