comment A little bit of acclimatisation or no acclimatisation at all?
I has been a long time ago, so I'm not sure anymore, but it was either Breithorn from Matterhorn Lodge, or Allalinhorn from Britanniahütte.

comment Can the Swiss Alps be hiked in the winter?
The problem is that you can't stay on cleared roads. Most alpine passes in Switzerland are not open until spring because there is too much snow to be cleared. I wouldn't really advise against doing something like this unless you have a lot of experience in hiking in these conditions.

comment Avalanche forecast in North America?
@BrenCrowell Thanks a lot for this info. Do you also know if you can rent ice axes there? Then I wouldn't have to take my with me on the plane...I think ice axes are a thing you can use a different one, while I would like to rely on my normal snowshes and crampons.
