As I progressed as diver I wanted to understand more about decompression. I followed some lectures about different tissues with different gasses and pressures. It's a lot to cover and I understand that for rec. diving organizations like PADI have simplified it and not everyone is interested in the theory behind it ( while they actually should ) anyway I think this article covers most of it but I highly recommend following a lecture or taking a technical or GUE fundamentals dive course.

I know about eating gels, eating bananas, even mars bars, but since not many divers do this I was wondering if there was a better solution. Note that even today PADI instructors teach students to ascent at a max speed of 18meters/min while this originates from military standards where this was the speed where military divers could ascent with all their gear and not based on decompression limits. decompression limits ( non deco dives ) are actually and have been 10m/min for more than 10 years. So I really don't trust PADI standards especially in 'non PADI' ( recreational ) dives

actually reading your comment again I think you mean oxygen toxicity since we're breathing a mixture with oxygen ( but that's a different question and there are solutions for that by breathing a mixture that contains less oxygen for periods of time )

hahaha you can't die of nitrogen narcosis/poisoning you can die because you're acting 'drunk' and make wrong decisions. In fact I've already made a 3,5 hour dive and I personally know people that have made over 8 hour dives. I've been over 164 foot and know some that have been over 440 foot
