Is it dangerous to sleep in a tent alone in a forest in -20? Olin - interesting point, but I don't think it's correct. I'll take some thermometers with me next time I go out this winter and report back; it definitely FEELS like my body heat changes the air temperature inside the tent a significant amount. |

Dome tents vs popup tents, are there any inherent pros or cons besides price and ease? Are there any rocks around? I often tie my guylines around those at the beach. If you have some bandanas you could make a sand anchor (this might even work with socks). I'm still not convinced that this kind of tent is AS strong as a dome tent, mostly because (as Berry120 mentioned) the poles/stakes of the dome tent help transfer some of the load to the ground. |
