I'm an avid programmer, enjoy creating things, enjoy a good puzzle and especially enjoy foxing people with a Java puzzle now and again!

Outside of my coding life, I have a number of other interests, including outdoors activities such as hiking / geocaching / letterboxing. I'm also fond of music - I enjoy listening to it as well as playing the piano and violin.

It may make a better question if you say why you're after such a glove :-)

comment Are used climbing shoes safe?
+1, it's a point worth mentioning - though of course this isn't specific to climbing shoes, it could happen with any footwear. Of course, though the risk is much lower it could also happen with new footwear (if you happen to purchase a pair that's been tried on with someone with such an infection!)

comment What are areas of the body which lose heat more quickly, and how can I reduce that loss?
I like the take on huddling together - good emphasis on the fact that there's ways other than clothing to stay warm.

comment When should you be alert for snakes?
You don't need to really be in the UK - adders are our only poisonous ones over here, and as far as poisonous snakes go they're pretty mild! (This isn't to say you shouldn't seek medical attention if you get bitten though.)

Nice to have a first hand account, thanks!

comment What should I do if I break a shoelace in the wilderness?
@slybloty Admittedly if this is possible the solution is somewhat obvious, but sometimes if the lace has frayed, broken in an odd place or so on it's not always as simple as it might seem.

Definitely on topic here as far as I'm concerned!

Sounds like a nice idea, but unfortunately doesn't seem to work with Chrome.

comment What's the difference between a 2, 3, 4, and 5 season tent?
@furtive You make a good point, I've edited to include your point. The main thing I was trying to put across is that while 4 season tents may well have these features, they're more of an afterthought and it's clear the main design of the tent is there to protect against harsh, snowy climates.

+1 especially on the swimming capability - a very important thing to take into consideration!

I've previously just used glue, but this seems to be a better solution!

comment Replacement tap for Coleman 5 gal. water carrier
In the page you linked to it looks like coleman are saying call their customer service department and they'll see what they can do - they may of course just tell you to buy the replacement part but it could be worth a try if they give you a couple of replacements for free? Not unheard of.

comment Is there a portable / comfortable pillow suitable for camping / backpacking?
@Amine Thanks, I'll take a look at that. slybloty - I would do, and do when car-camping - but that takes up a heck of a lot of space (and weight) when backpacking!

@Vorac The first way doesn't work if you've forgotten to check - and the second isn't much good on the first evening!

@Vorac "You check when does the sun set" - and how exactly if you're in the wilderness?

comment Is there a portable / comfortable pillow suitable for camping / backpacking?
@BMitch Spare clothes works well for longer trips, but when just going for 1 - 2 nights I generally find there's not enough spare clothes to provide a good pillow! Incorporating the pack sounds like a good idea though... hadn't thought of that.
