@grahm can you cite this please. because common sense starts to kick in head is top of your body and heat rises....soo how is this "debunked" yes I understand that you will not stay warm if you are ONLY WEARING a hat and nothing else any more then if you are not wearing anything. but what part of the body looses more heat / or looses heat the fastest..like the question asks

and if it looks like your going to Not make it across....DONT TRY!!!! if there are downed trees that would make it accrost I personaly would try and make a "bridge" to the best I can. I would also spread my weight over a larger area, while lowering my center of gravity.

comment What are good knots to know for camping and backpacking?
yeah I guess the clove hitch is more for lashings (which is another fun topic =) ) you might just out right give the resorce you are using too animatedknots.com in regarding to your taught line statement. the taught line is more used for tightening stuff up. especially tent lines and the like. (quite useful for volley ball setup too), while the two half hitch is for connecting a rope to a loop or the like

@JayBazuzi are you sure your not talking about the Granny knot, which is the WRONG way to tie a square knot. the square knot is nice if you give it enough tail.

comment What is the difference between external and internal-frame packs?
I disagree...its based on personal choice and price. and packing areas. and usualy internal has ONE BIG place and and multiple smaller pockets. and external have two or three medium sized pockets and not many more then that. also external are easyer to wash.
