What are good knots to know for camping and backpacking? yeah I guess the clove hitch is more for lashings (which is another fun topic =) ) you might just out right give the resorce you are using too animatedknots.com in regarding to your taught line statement. the taught line is more used for tightening stuff up. especially tent lines and the like. (quite useful for volley ball setup too), while the two half hitch is for connecting a rope to a loop or the like |

What are good knots to know for camping and backpacking? @JayBazuzi are you sure your not talking about the Granny knot, which is the WRONG way to tie a square knot. the square knot is nice if you give it enough tail. |

What is the difference between external and internal-frame packs? I disagree...its based on personal choice and price. and packing areas. and usualy internal has ONE BIG place and and multiple smaller pockets. and external have two or three medium sized pockets and not many more then that. also external are easyer to wash. |
