During my adult life I have spent more nights outdoors than in.
I have served as an outdoor guide, educator, conservationist, researcher, crew leader and enthusiast from the bear-chomps of Alaska to the rock-falls of canyon country.
Currently working at a remote research station deep in the rain forest of Borneo studying primate ecology.

Should I be more careful about postholing during winter hikes? -1 For "you're not likely to get hurt." Lots of ways to get hurt post-holing, and pot-holing can happen on lots of different types of snow - not just "deep and soft" snow. |

Interesting to note that wild animals on federal public lands in the US are regulated by the state game and fish agencies. Thus in some areas there has been fish-stocking in "pristine" Wilderness lakes... |

Is it safe to use denatured alcohol as an antiseptic? @manoftheson Even betadine is pretty harsh and can kill as much good tissue as bad. But great to use to clean the area surrounding a wound (not in it). |
