There are many activities one can do on Crown Land in Canada. The price of permits and particular rules will change from province to province.
For example in British Columbia one may participate in the following activities:
- Christmas Tree [Cutting] Permit (It is free)
- Angling Fishing License
- Hunting and Trapping is permitted. In BC in addition to annual fees and permits a few courses must be undertaken before starting out.
- Recreational Gold Panning
- Camping in BC
- Hiking
- Foraging Wild Food Stuffs (Stay out of provincial parks, regional parks, private lands and Native Indian Reserves) Stick to Crown Land for foraging.
- Remote residential licences of occupation is available for uses that are not permanent or where there are specific restrictions or management objectives. A licence is normally issued for a term of 10 years.
- Crown land for residential purposes may be sold and if so will be offered at fair market value of the land.
