Apr 5, 2019 at 18:21 comment added Mindwin Remember Monica @strongbad sometimes not. Helping can get you sued. Just check "good samaritan lawsuit" on google. On the other hand, "not having the expertise to provide aid" is a good enough reason to avoid providing aid. That is why we have "don't move the victim" rules. Bad aid is bad for both the one in trouble and the one attempting to give said aid.

Apr 14, 2016 at 13:31 comment added Mindwin Remember Monica The internet is not a valid source of medical advice. I'm afraid some amateur (and probably dumb) hikers could take what is written on this page at heart and then someone gets hurt or worse.
Apr 14, 2016 at 12:22 comment added Ilmari Karonen I can't really speak for whoever downvoted you, but perhaps they felt that this is a situation where one should not plan one's course of action based on the advice of random strangers on the Internet. At least, that argument (as valid or not as it may be) is the only one I can think of for someone to feel that this question should not be asked here.
Apr 14, 2016 at 12:01 comment added Olin Lathrop I don't see a reason for a downvote either, have a +1 from me.

Apr 13, 2016 at 17:16 comment added Russell Steen Anyone care to share feedback on the reason for the downvote? :)
