However in rainy conditions the inside always ends up wet from condensation, so the net effect is the same: you mustn't allow the inner (not waterproof) to touch it. | |

The reason is simple, you produce a lot of water vapor inside the tent, it would be completely unlivable if the inner tent was not breathable. So what happens is that water is caught on the outer tent, both on the inside and outside, and simple runs off onto the ground. If you inner tent touches your outer tent, water will leak into the inner tent. | |
