Jul 2, 2018 at 18:36 comment added Willeke I would not be using dental floss but sewing yarn to mark the middle of the rope with a bit of yarn, and with a colour that stands out on the rope. Sewing yarn is available in many colours.

Aug 26, 2014 at 14:34 comment added user2766 I'm not 100% convinced by the dental floss idea. This seems dangerous. It would be easy to compromise the integrity of the sheath, this accounts for a significant amount of the strength of the rope so be careful with this.
