Jan 5, 2015 at 23:08 comment added ShemSeger @mattnz - Good point, all my big bags have relatively flat bottoms, and I always pack my sleeping bag in the bottom which fills them nicely. The key point is to make sure that the weight in your bag is balanced more towards your body. I'll edit this into my answer.

The stabilizer straps can be adjusted on the fly to balance comfort and control. On easy trails I tend to lossen them, when boulder hopping etc, with lots of dynmic movement, where balance and control is important, tighten them up.
